Janmashtami 2021

Dear Ones,

Loving greetings to all of you as we joyously celebrate the birth anniversary of Bhagavan Sri Krishna, uniting with countless souls everywhere to offer our love, devotion, and gratitude to this sublime incarnation of love divine.

On this Janmashtami, may Sri Krishna’s special grace and blessings inspire us to embody his example of a balanced life of right action guided by divine wisdom. By absorbing his universal teachings enshrined in the Bhagavad Gita, which speak directly and profoundly to the times we are passing through, let us awaken within ourselves immortal qualities of the soul — fortitude, faith, fearlessness — remembering that our trials are not meant to overwhelm us but to bring forth our heroic and invincible divine nature. Daily meditation on God and His avatars, and trusting them to help us overcome in every way, gives us access to unfailing resources of courage, evenmindedness, and creative intuition in the midst of even the severest difficulties.

That is the message Bhagavan Krishna proclaims to the Arjuna-devotee within each of us. Uniting heart, mind, and soul with Spirit, by using the holy science of Kriya Yoga extolled in the Gita, we become better equipped to peacefully and wisely prevail in our own inner battles of Kurukshetra. Through love-guided and calm right action, we become peacemakers in our family environment and within our communities, harmoniously interacting with ennobling respect for every soul as a child of God.

By manifesting our innate soul qualities, as did Lord Krishna and all the great ones, we have the power to live and serve in the consciousness of God, radiating His light and love to all who cross our path. Let us walk together in the inclusiveness of Spirit, following humbly in the footsteps of the beloved Krishna who is for all humanity “an embodiment of divine love, giving joy to all.” Through our willingness to be divine, we augment the energies that are steadily and surely evolving a better world.

May the message and blessings of Bhagavan Sri Krishna guide you unceasingly,

Brother Chidananda

Janmashtami, the birth anniversary of Sri Krishna, is an annual celebration of great spiritual joy. Its date is determined according to the Hindu lunar calendar; this year it falls on August 30.
